I wasn’t writing about prayer. Not today. Not this week. Instead, I was stewing about Thanksgiving while tweaking an article I just finished for In Touch magazine on evangelist Arthur Blessitt.

He’s the American preacher who walked the earth for 40 years carrying a 12-foot cross--and has a Guinness World Record to prove it. But Blessitt, who I interviewed recently in Denver where he now lives, also had a clear reason for going.

“I did it for Jesus. So people would know who Jesus is. So they’ll know what He sacrificed on Calvary. That’s the only reason.”

And with that, Blessitt reminds me of the No. 1 principle on how to pray at Thanksgiving with power: It’s not about me. (more…)
